D\u00e8s le d\u00e9but de l\u2019histoire (Luc 19<\/a>,2-10), l\u2019Evang\u00e9liste nous rappelle que Zach\u00e9e est un grand p\u00e9cheur \u00ab Et voici, un homme riche, appel\u00e9 Zach\u00e9e, chef des publicains<\/em> \u00bb. Elle nous dit aussi que Zach\u00e9e est rempli d\u2019un d\u00e9sir de voir J\u00e9sus, \u00ab [il] cherchait \u00e0 voir J\u00e9sus<\/em> \u00bb. Mais rien dans l\u2019histoire ne dit qu\u2019\u00e0 ce moment l\u00e0, il soit emprunt d\u2019un d\u00e9sir de conversion, ou d\u2019un souhait de quitter sa vie de p\u00e9ch\u00e9s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or, J\u00e9sus sans lui demander aucune formule de conversion ou de repentir (alors que Zach\u00e9e est un p\u00e9cheur av\u00e9r\u00e9 et notoire), va \u00e0 sa rencontre \u00ab Zach\u00e9e, descends vite, car il me faut aujourd’hui demeurer chez toi <\/em>\u00bb. Et Zach\u00e9e renonce ensuite au p\u00e9ch\u00e9 (apr\u00e8s et pas avant que le Christ l\u2019accueille), \u00ab Voici, Seigneur, je vais donner la moiti\u00e9 de mes biens aux pauvres, et si j’ai extorqu\u00e9 quelque chose \u00e0 quelqu’un, je lui rends le quadruple <\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u00e0 encore, la rencontre avec le Christ (l\u2019Eucharistie) provoque la conversion et l\u2019abandon du p\u00e9ch\u00e9. Mais le Christ ne pose aucun pr\u00e9alable \u00e0 cette rencontre, seule compte la volont\u00e9 de Zach\u00e9 (du p\u00e9cheur) de le rencontrer (de communier), car sans la prise en compte de cette volont\u00e9, la libert\u00e9 de l\u2019homme serait ni\u00e9e. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le verset de conclusion vient renforcer encore cette id\u00e9e, comme si le Christ voulait \u00eatre certain d\u2019avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 bien compris de ses disciples \u00ab Car le Fils de l\u2019homme est venu chercher et sauver ce qui \u00e9tait perdu<\/em> \u00bb. Quand le Christ embrasse Zach\u00e9e, celui-ci est encore perdu, il n\u2019a renonc\u00e9 en rien \u00e0 son p\u00e9ch\u00e9, c\u2019est le contact du Christ qui le sauve. Or la Sainte Communion est le meilleur contact possible avec le Christ, \u00absource et sommet de toute vie chr\u00e9tienne<\/em> \u00bb. <\/p>\n
